Easy Ways to be Eco-Chic

Wanna upgrade your fashion karma? It can be as easy as swapping plastic bags for cute totes, using a re-usable water bottle or purchasing products that are made with recycled materials. Too easy!

Re-usable shopping bags are available everywhere now and come in pretty much any print you want. There are lots on Etsy already and you could even make your own with an iron-on transfer. I get most of mine from Cotton On; whenever you make a purchase there you can get one for a $2 donation to their charity foundation and the styles are changed regularly.

Using a drink bottle will save you a lot of money in the long term compared to buying bottled water and it saves on landfill big-time. Look out for aluminium ones, these are good for your health, insulate well and will last the longest. If you prefer plastic though, I suggest making sure that the product is BPA free, most plastic food-safe products are now anyway.

As I've mentioned (many times) before, EcoTools brushes are made with recycled metal, sustainable bamboo and cruelty-free taklon bristles - so they're great for the earth and your face. Tarte also has an eco-friendly range of makeup that features post-consumer recycled aluminium packaging, as well as their usual mixture of natural ingredients.

What are your tips?

  1. Hi Kate,
Love the post! I was wondering though how do you know the paint on the totes and bottles are eco-friendly? Like does all paint degrade well?

If you don't know thats ok I just have always wondered about it.

    1. That's a really interesting point Katy!
I guess the main thing for me is that I'm not using plastic bags so I hadn't really thought of that.
You could try looking out for companies who use plant-based inks, I know EcoTools does.

      Hope this helps :)
